RORO SHIPPING OF HEAVY MACHINERY
The Roll-On/Roll-Off shipping method involves the direct driving-on and driving-
off cargo on a vessel. This method enables shippers to load the cargo on the truck
at site or warehouse, transport the cargo to the port and have the cargo loaded
directly into the vessel. By rolling cargo on board of these vessels and rolling it off
at its destination, shippers can reduce the number of times their cargo is handled.
The special RoRo vessels are usually reserved for transportation of heavier cargo
such as construction machinery, trucks, cars, cranes, boats on trailers, trams
& trains, and other selfpropelled vehicles. These vessels have a number of
decks that can be lifted, in order to take "High & Heavy" cargo, or lowered the
decks in order to take many more cars.
